I had the pleasure of speaking with Keeley McGarr from Keeley’s Cheese Co the other day. She has made a wonderful addition to the New York cheese scene with her washed-rind “Across the Pond”.
Outside of the state, New York is known for your basic white cheddar. Nothing complex, nothing earth shattering…just a good solid cheese.
Lucky for us, there are several cheesemakers out there who are on a path to change that… and I get excited about the progress within the cheese world when I see young and exciting cheesemakers enter the scene.
Keeley McGarr of Keeley’s Cheese Co. in King Ferry on Cayuga Lake is one of those individuals making a difference.
