Vermont Cheesemakers Festival

July 19, 2010

There is a pretty big event coming up next weekend in the world of cheese.  On Sunday, July 25th the  Vermont Cheesemakers Festival will invade Shelburne Farms for the second  straight year.  In a repeat performance from last year, this event has sold out.  In addition to every major cheese farm and cheese maker from across the state, there will also be other local craftsman there to participate such as breweries and wineries.  I am really excited about attending this as it will give me a chance to put names and faces to all of the VT cheeses that I know and enjoy. It will be a fun-filled and informative day spending time with cheese makers, tasting their cheese and hearing the stories behind their craft.  A couple of  seminars are planned, including a “Town Hall” with famed cheese expert Steve Jenkins, author of the quintessential guide, “Cheese Primer“.  It should be a fantastic event that will yield insight for cheese making as well as several pieces for this site.  For those of you not able to attend, I will try to post a few things here and there on Twitter as the festival progresses.  You can find me at @Estes.
